  • November 28, 2010; Clearwater Bay, Hong Kong {Thanksgiving Round II}<br /> Thanksgiving wouldn't be Thanksgiving without leftovers, so the Wongs graciously invited our care group over tonight after the 5pm service for that very thing! And since everyone is blessed with such beautiful voices, the night was woven together with singing and ended in worship. What an incredible night.

  • November 26, 2010; North Point, Hong Kong {Resound}<br /> I had the privilege to photograph a very special event tonight called Resound. It unites students from all across Hong Kong together for worship and prayer that is resulting in a great spiritual awakening for the youth in this city.

  • November 25, 2010; Punkfulam, Hong Kong {Happy Thanksgiving}<br /> Hosted a memorable Thanksgiving with Kent & Rayla for our friends in Hong Kong. We watched movies, over-ate and laughed 'til it hurt, ending the night with a few rounds of balderdash.

  • November 24, 2010; Kennedy Town, Hong Kong {Old-Fashion Apple Pie}<br /> Bringing a little bit of America to Hong Kong.

  • November 23, 2010; Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong {A Symphony of Lights}<br /> Every night at 8pm Hong Kong displays 'The World's Largest Permanent Light and Sound Show,' accredited by Guinness World Records. More than 40 buildings on both sides of Victoria Harbour flash colored lights, laser beams and searchlights in a spectacular performance synchronized to music and narration that reveals the spirit of this diverse city. Tourists and locals alike gather each night to watch.

So I planned out the last few things I needed and made my shopping list.

  • November 21, 2010; Quarry Bay, Hong Kong {My Little Angel}<br /> We spent all day at Island ECC with the ICM Children's Choir because they sang during the services. We took them to Dim Sum for lunch and then out to Pizza & Spaghetti for dinner. During the afternoon, we had some down time, so Mary Jane read me Bible stories. She wanted to practice for her reading test back at school in the Phils. They all fly home tomorrow...

  • November 20, 2010; Sheng Wan, Hong Kong {The Butterfly Effect}<br /> The phrase refers to the idea that a butterfly's wings might create tiny changes in the atmosphere that may ultimately causes a chain of events leading to large-scale alterations of events. Had the butterfly not flapped its wings, the trajectory of the system might have been vastly different. While the butterfly does not cause a storm in the sense of providing the energy, it does cause it in the sense that the flap of its wings is an essential part of the initial conditions resulting in a storm, and without that flap that particular event would not have existed.

  • November 18, 2010; Wan Chai, Hong Kong {2010 ICM HK Banquet}<br /> Our ICM Children's Choir preformed at the banquet and blew everyone in the room away. Their presence was powerful as they sang about their lives growing up in the slums. Our friends, Louise & Michal, led the choir and produced several videos that played in sync to their voices; the entire performance as phenomenal. The children have been in HK all week seeing, tasting and experiencing everything for the first time and it's been such a privilege to see life through their eyes.

  • November 16, 2010; Wan Chai, Hong Kong {We Got Trumped}<br /> Dying of laughter at the office in the wee hours of the morning with Merryl and Heather after loosing a long battle with the banners for the banquet.

  • November 14, 2010; Central, Hong Kong {Children's Choir at The Vine}<br /> Riding up to The Vine church service in a snug elevator with 10 ICM Children's Choir Kids, Carol, Louise, Heather, Peter, a very unlucky stranger and I. It was very Chinese of us.

  • November 13, 2010; Punkfulam, Hong Kong {Guardian Angel}<br /> We spent all Saturday at the Sutherland's working hard on the banquet and just as the sun was setting, it caught an extraordinary silhouette of the leaves outside.

  • November 12, 2010; Kennedy Town, Hong Kong {Clay Oven}<br /> I stopped by my Indian Restaurant on the way home from work after a really long day in the office and was welcomed by friendly faces and a huge smile from the cook. They invited me to stay for tea and brought out a special dish on the house while we waited for our dinner to go. This completely made my day; I felt like family.

  • November 11, 2010; Causeway Bay, Hong Kong {Times Square}<br /> Embracing the crowds in Times Square on a last-minute mission to find a dress for the banquet.

  • November 10, 2010; Wan Chai, Hong Kong {Win Win}<br /> Today was like a scene from Episode 14 Season 4 of The Office; the one where Pam is waiting for Michael to pick out a new chair so she can have his old one? Expect we had better luck. NIKE gave us a dozen matching chairs and we gave Crossroads our eclectic ones. As Gael Bernal says in Letter's to Juliet, "Win Win!"

  • November 9, 2010; Kennedy Town, Hong Kong {Shrines & Offerings}<br /> At the entrance to almost every store or restaurant in Hong Kong you'll find shrines dedicated to one god or another. They're usually below knee level so that everyone can pay homage upon entering and departing. Food and incense are also left on the sidewalk for the same reason because it is believed to bring good luck.

  • November 8, 2010; Wan Chai, Hong Kong {Starbucks Coffee Bundle}<br /> Photographing the HK auction items for the banquet next week and getting inspired about the coffee shop I'll open one day.

  • November 7, 2010; Kennedy Town, Hong Kong {Happy Birthday Ed}<br /> Celebrating Ed's birthday in typical Caregroup fashion...lots of cooking, laughing and singing.

  • November 6, 2010; Kennedy Town, Hong Kong {Tea Set}<br /> My china tea set from Stanley Markets with Blossom Lily Tea.

  • November 5, 2010; Kennedy Town, Hong Kong {Heather Arrives}<br /> Collected Heather from the airport and took her to my favorite Thai restaurant so she could try out her chop stick skills on some authentic Asian noodles.

  • November 4, 2010; Kennedy Town, Hong Kong {Pitaya}<br /> Eating my first dragon fruit!

  • November 3, 2010; New Territories, Hong Kong {Sha Tin Racecourse}<br /> The Sha Tin Racecourse was built in 1978 on reclaimed land and is the bigger of Hong Kong's two horseracing tracks. People pour in weekly from all over Hong Kong to watch this equestrian sport and place their bets, hoping their calculations will pay off.

  • November 2, 2010; Central, Hong Kong {Holly Browns}<br /> Grabbing a chai tea and free internet at HK's newest café.

  • November 1, 2010; Kennedy Town, Hong Kong {Henri}<br /> This is Henri, the teacup yorkie that lived in the pet shop across the street from our flat. We use to refer to him as Jackson in the October 1 post. Merryl and Jon bought him, gave him a proper name after a famous photographer and now he lives with us. Happy ending!
