  • September 24, 2010; Virginia, USA {DC ICM Banquet 2010}<br /> I received a gift tonight that has more meaning that anyone will ever full know. My housemates came to the banquet and at the end, presented me with this ring. They had it engraved with the verse God gave me back in 2009 that gave me peace to move to Hong Kong & the Philippines. There is nothing like the solace of friends who listen to the dreams of your heart and cheer you on as you run towards it. For me, it is one of life's greatest blessings.

  • September 22, 2010; Virginia, USA {ICM USA HQ}<br /> Our dining room turned into the ICM Office this week as we worked around the clock finalizing everything for our big Banquet on Friday. We took a quick photo just to capture the moment. I don't know what I love more; the Mac vs. PC shout out between Merryl and Deanna, the amusement on Julie and Melissa's faces, Heather's innocent smile, or my complete unawareness that no one else is flashing the Filipino sign.

  • September 21, 2010; Virginia, USA {Hong & Kong}<br /> We have two toads that sit on our front steps every night to catch the bugs that fall from the lights. I have named them Hong and Kong. I quite like coming home to them waiting there for me. Who needs dogs when you have watchfrogs?

  • September 20, 2010; Virginia, USA {Welcome to the U.S. of A, Julie!}<br /> Collecting Julie from the International Terminal. Things were a bit backed up in customs, so there was a large crowd waiting outside including several chauffeurs. One of them laughed at my sign and told me it was too small as he proudly held his nice big white board with perfectly crafted letters. I assured him that although the sign was small, there was jumping and screaming to go along with it. It is the combination of these three things that will get ones attention quickly. He laughed harder and agreed. When Julie came out she got the sign, the jumping and the screaming. The chauffer was there to witness it. I didn't stick around to see him collect his passenger, but I bet he was really impressed with our tactics and tried it out himself...

  • Day 250<br /> September 7, 2010; Wan Chai, Hong Kong {Mooncakes}<br /> Mooncakes are traditional Chinese pastries eaten during the Mid-Autumn Festival, one of the most important Chinese festivals. The pastries are filled with thick lotus seed paste and yolks from salted duck eggs, which symbolizes the full moon. The imprint on top usually consists of the Chinese characters for 'longevity' or 'harmony' as well as the name of the bakery and the type of filling inside.

It has taken me all over the world and back again, placing me before the most brilliant landscapes and the most tragic. It has led me to people in jail cells in the city and cardboard homes in the slums and shanty tree houses over the water. It has set me before painted sunsets and put me in the middle of raging storms. It crosses my path on purpose with so many people, constantly challenging everything I am made of so as not to leave me for a second the way I was a moment ago.
